Finance Committee Annual Plan
Some Years there are more Symposia than others.
Contents
January
The official date for taking office is in late January.
February
If this is your last year as Finance Chair, It can be a good idea to have someone in mind to take over the Finance Chair position after you.
March
April
- Nomination for New Chairs for ISCB SC has to be in 6 weeks prior to ISMB
May
June
- ISMB usually takes place in June.
- Voting for Chairs closes
- Student Council Symposium (SCS) takes place in the days leading up to ISMB.
- At SCS it is important to get photos of Travel Fellowship Awardees, sponsors, Poster/Presentation winners, we send this information to the sponsors, the sponsors usually appreciates this, and keeps returning to sponsor the following years.
- Having someone, Symposium chair/finance chair walking around, personally thanking the sponsors is also of great value. It may also be possible to attract new sponsors at this meeting
July
- This is usually the time where the symposium committee for next year SCS starts to form. It is good if either the finance chair, or a member of the finance committee can be present at meetings with this committee once they call for their first meeting. This allows the previous scs finance responsible to introduce the new scs finance responsible while sending out thank you notes
- Collect photos from Symposium, and names + affiliations of people who received awards and/or Travel Fellowships.
- Prepare a nice and appealing thank you email to the person who facilitated the sponsorship, this should be an email that also thanks the company in general, as it will very likely be forwarded to a superior.
