Setup email forwarder and website for RSGs

Once there is a new RSG, web committee need to get in contact with them and set up an email forwarder and a website. This wiki page will take you through this process.

The basic things are:

(1) Send an email to the chair and get a couple things from him/her: a. who he/she wants on the forwarder and b. if they have a website or want us to set up space for them (and in that case if they want the auto-install of WordPress).

(2a) if they already have a website set up a forwarder on Dreamhost from rsg-<samething>.iscbsc.org to their site

(2b) if they want a site set up a hosted domain as rsg-<samething>.iscbsc.org with user rsg<thing> (no space or hyphen) and autgenerate a password (save that password). If they want wordpress its under "goodies" easy installs. Then send them the password. If they don't want WordPress you can put up the holding page (see http://rsg-ne-us.iscbsc.org/). It is important that during this step you do not give them a unique IP address. This will cost 60USD per month!

(3) go to admin.google.com and sign in with username admin@iscbsc.org (The recovery email is web@iscbsc.org). Create a new group by clicking the three bars in the top left then going to Directory -> Groups. Click "create group" at the top and fill out the information (Just fill in the group name and email address with rsg-<name>). Next, mark it as public and click create group (don't click any of the other boxes). On the next screen click "add members", which takes you to a new page. Click the yellow "+" sign and add the members to the group.

Congrats on the new RSG. As you may or may not know the web team provides each RSG with an email forwarder as well as webspace and/or a subdomain forwarded to their own website. Your email forwarder would be rsg-ne-us@iscbsc.org and you can have it sent to whoever on your board you would like, most RSGs have the chair and vice chair. Your website address will be rsg-ne-us.iscbsc.org. If you have a website already thats great! We can set of a forwarder and link you into the website right away. If you do not have a site and would like one, we can set up the hosting for free for you and help you get started.
